Smaller innovators are also showing the sustainable potential of addressing the challenge posed by this planetary boundary. WaterSeer is one of these new players. An invention that aims to provide a sustainable source of clean, safe water, the WaterSeer is designed to be operated without an external power input, costly chemicals, or maintenance.

The device extracts moisture from the air and condenses it into water using the temperature difference between the above-ground turbine and the collection chamber that is installed beneath the device six feet underground. The potable water is then delivered to the surface. Waterseer is able to produce 50 litres of water per day (even in arid regions).
